Aveena Persaud
Aveena Persaud is a 14-year-old freshman at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School and currently hold the position as News Editor for The Torch. She was born in Guyana and came to the US when she was 6. Aveena also recently moved from NYC to NJ in September. This is Aveena’s first year taking journalism. She is in journalism because it’s something she finds to be creative. During Aveena’s free time she writes poetry and reads books. Her favorite book is "Before I fall" by Lauren Oliver. She likes to play volleyball and was part of a swim team for 4 years. She also loves to go skateboarding and watch the sunset. Some of Aveena's interests are writing, origami, traveling, and baking. She has always been a creative person and has always had a passion for writing.
