Dealing with Quarantine
May 29, 2020
Can We Go Home Yet?
On Friday March 13, 2020 all schools in the Woodbridge Township School District were presumed closed until further notice. The Corona Virus has been spreading quickly while slowly making its way to Woodbridge Township. At first, students sat in class waiting in agony for an announcement to be sent home. Recently, there has been a statewide shutdown followed with a recommended curfew of 8:00. Students are now learning from home through online schooling and it has definitely not been the easiest way to learn. However, The Torch has come up with some ways to keep your brain occupied during the quarantine.
Keeping Yourself Busy
First and foremost, you have to make sure you’re not spending all of quarantine being a couch potato. You have to make sure you are still making your body active and moving around, not just to the refirgorator and back. As long as you are maintaining a safe distance from others, you can go out and jog on your street, or run laps in the backyard. Whatever you do, just try to move around and be productive.
Another great way to have fun while confined in your house, is to play board games. Board games are a great way to keep your mind busy and get off of those phones. A lot of people are going to see this quarantine as an opportunity to be lazy and sit on their phones all day, but that can’t possibly be good for your body. Try to move away from the electronics and give your brain a break from all the tech. Buy some cards or a small board game and gather up whoever you can find in the house to play with you.
In addition to all of that, you can also find a lot of relaxation in cooking. I don’t know about you, but one of the main ways I have been keeping myself busy amidst this virus is making various dishes to serve to my family. It doesn’t have to be anything too crazy. You can find recipes that dont take as much time and aren’t as difficult if you’re a beginner.
In the end, all you really have to do to deal with quarantine is stay home, practice social distancing, and keep good hygiene.
