Alexander Rosario is a senior at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School. Rosario is also a transfer student that is currently on Kennedy’s varsity wrestling team. I held an interview with Rosario via Zoom and this is how it went.

Growing up, what was your favorite memory/memories and how has it affected you?

Well… just playing outside and stuff like that, and how it affected me, I guess it makes me think. I think differently than other kids who just sat behind the T.V and play video games.

How would you describe your freshman year? Do you have any advice for incoming freshmen?

My freshman year was pretty fun, I had a pretty good freshman year. My freshman year wasn’t with this whole Covid thing, but I don’t even know why I enjoyed freshman year so much, I just did.

How have you seen yourself grow and improve as a person from freshman year until now?

I see things differently I guess, I didn’t really try as much academically and s— like that. Oh I’m sorry I forgot you’re recording for school.

Are there any goals you are yet to complete before graduating? And how do you plan on achieving them?

I’m trying to get honor roll, [it’d] be my second honor roll. One more time… I still have a little bit of time to achieve that.

What do you plan to do after graduating?

I plan on going to the military. Serve our country. Probably [the] army.

Is there anything you regret not taking a chance doing during your high school career?

Nah, not really. I wished I played more football, then again, I had a lot of problems with the coaches at Woodbridge, so it really wasn’t up to me, but yeah I wished I played more football.

What was military school like?

It was crazy, definitely like a first hit of reality, cause I was staying over there by myself, like actually by myself. For the first portion I was there, I didn’t have a phone so it was really just me waking up every morning on my own, doing other things I needed to do on my own, and yeah it was just different. I felt like I was in college, it was a lot of hard work waking up [at] six in the morning every, seven days a week. You feel me? I go to bed at nine and just work.

What are you most passionate about? Whether it’s a sport, advocating for something, or etc.? Why are you passionate about it?

I’m pretty passionate about myself (laughs). I’m just trying to get myself better. Tryna make me a better me everyday, you feel me?

Who/what has influenced you the most growing up?

My dad, no question. We never saw eye-to-eye but everything he saw made sense and everything he said is coming true, and some of the stuff he said when I was younger, I say now because it was all facts.

Do you have any extra advice?

Enjoy high school. Make the most of it, every moment. And every day, try to do better, try to be a better person. Try to better yourself because before you know it this s— [school] will be over. And you’re going to be asking yourself, “D— what did I do in all these years?” Try to make the most of it before this s— goes before your eyes
