Strawberry Shortcake Mcflurry Review
McDonald’s releases their new spring menu.
On April 12, 2023 McDonald’s celebrated the spring season with their debut of the new Strawberry Shortcake Mcflurry. The new Mcflurry is only on the menu for a limited time and features their creamy vanilla soft serve with strawberry-flavored clusters and crispy, buttery shortbread cookies. The announcement of their new menu was met with much anticipation, as strawberry shortcake is a timeless, fan-favorite dessert. The Mcflurry is now available, for a limited time, for $3.49 at all McDonald’s locations.
The Review
The Mcflurry looked completely pink with clusters of cookies, and the vanilla base was filled with pink cookie dust.
The vanilla soft serve was creamy and easy to scoop. The bits of shortbread cookies and other add-ins were not as mixed in, compared to their other Mcflurries. Additionally, in comparison to their other Mcflurries, the newest Mcflurry didn’t have as strong of a vanilla taste. Both the strawberry clusters and shortbread cookie pieces were crunchy, but there was tons of cookie dust in the Mcflurry. The clusters and cookies tasted and smelled like fake strawberries, giving the Mcflurry an overwhelmingly strong strawberry scent. The strawberry flavor focused more on sweetness rather than on the tangy, tart taste of a real strawberry.
The shortbread cookie pieces provided a harder crunch for contrast, with a slight buttery flavor.
Unfortunately, the Mcflurry lacked the true flavor of a strawberry shortcake. There was no sauce, jam, or fresh strawberries to capture the authentic flavor of strawberry shortcake. McDonald’s missed the opportunity to create a Mcflurry that truly encaptures the taste of a strawberry shortcake. The mcflurry isn’t bad, but it does not live up to the expectations of consumers.
Overall, Mcdonald’s Strawberry Shortcake Mcflurry is a nice frozen dessert that provides more artificial strawberry flavor and a nice crunch.
