On April 26, JFKMHS, CHS and WHS students had the opportunity to go to the Woodbridge Community Center and attend a career fair to talk about their future plans with career experts.
“It was solid,” JFKMHS student Eric Blair said. “It gives a lot of opportunities…a lot of good, beginner, potential, and further job experiences and opportunities. I think it was definitely worth going.”
The fair consisted of various panels from companies and businesses such as Wegmans and Hackensack Meridian Health. Representatives from each panel would inform students on the proper schooling and training needed for their respective careers. Students could inquire about what each job consisted of in a day in a life.
There were also serious career commitments like the U.S. Army and other divisions of the armed forces. Students could also speak to workers in trade jobs like electricians and HVAC technicians. Students were able to snag free items which included reusable water bottles, shirts, hats and rulers.
Sgt. Alexander from the United States Army attended the career fair.
“It never changes,” Sgt. Alexander states. “I think that going around and providing kids with opportunities and different opportunities in different career fields is definitely important.”
Attendants could also watch a presentation and were able to listen to people who worked in their featured careers.
Every student there got a chance to receive very important career advice before getting back on the bus to conclude this year’s JFKMHS career fair trip opportunity.
