In his 4 years at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, Yanuth Nanthukumar has immersed himself in many high school activities, events and sports.
“My favorite high school memory has to be lip sync battle junior year and I hosted it senior year,” Nanthukumar states.
He has participated in many activities, from the lip sync battle to the powderpuff game. Nanthakumar is well-known in school and was selected as the Woodbridge PD vs. Kennedy Staff and Students basketball game announcer. He stated that all these events made his high school years better.
“Go to school events and have fun, because 4 years go by quick and by the time you know it, you’re gonna be a senior going to your last events,” Nanthukumar said. “The 4 years I was at JFK were great, I had a couple of negative setbacks, math class was one of them. And when I tore my ACL in the fall.” Nanthakumar’s ACL injury happened during gym class while playing kickball.
“Football gave my confidence all 4 years when I started,” Nanthakumar states. Nanthakumar has three varsity letters for football, track and wrestling. Nanthakumar had a 5-17 record throughout his wrestling career. Unfortunately, he missed his senior year because of his ACL injury.
Nanthakumar is attending Rutgers University in the fall. Nanthakumar was accepted into the University of Miami earlier this year, but decided against it.
“Mainly, price, I didn’t want to spend too much. 17 grand a year for Rutgers wasn’t too bad,” Nanthakumar states. “…took the opportunity, and in a year I will join the club wrestling team…”
The halls of John F Kennedy Memorial High School won’t be the same without Nanthakumars bright and funny personality. We wish him the best after high school.
