On Thursday, May 2, the JFK students pieced together their unique talents to perform their very own guitar concert. The show was open to students, staff, friends and family to enjoy. The club’s adviser, Mr.Viteri, spent hours of dedication practicing the songs with the students.
Performances lasted two hours with instruments such as the guitar, piano, drums and vocals featured. The genres of music weren’t limited to a specific category. Students were allowed to let their creative energy flow with their favorite songs. Students played rock, country and indie music. Performances from students of all grade levels showcased their creativity and artistic talents.
The guitar club is a way for students to explore their musical gifts and learn the basics of playing the guitar, or further expand their musical knowledge of the instrument. The club also allows students to become more comfortable performing on stage.
“I’m hoping that students will finally break out of their mold and reach their full potential,” Mr.Vitari states. “…I feel that we have some really talented individuals, and sometimes being the only person on stage, that this might be their first opportunity of doing that. It’s very scary to do that [solo performace], but very empowering once you do it, so I hope that the students that do perform will really rock out and realize how special they are.”
