On Thursday, March 20, at 6 p.m. JFKMHS will host its annual Mr. JFK. Teachers recommend 40 male students in the senior class. Results are then narrowed to the top ten by seniors. Senior students then vote for their top three choices.
This year, the Mr. JFK candidates are: Brenden Denti, Jayden France, Nick Hein, Isaiah Joyner, Aarush Kanduri, Zain Khalil, Raman Pandit, Manny Perez-Quijano, Milton Reyes and Bhavik Shah.
Mr. JFK candidates will compete against each other in many different categories throughout the night. The senior boys will show off their suits, answer trivia questions about the history of JFKMHS, respond to personal open-ended questions, show-off talents of their choice and will finish their performance with a group dance.
Brenden Denti
Being Mr. JFK for Brenden means a lot because it shows that teachers and students chose him to represent the school and that underclassmen look up to him. His favorite part about JFK has been playing football for four years and the memories he made.
He plans to major in psychology at Kean University and have a career in social work after he graduates from JFK. Brenden also loves to go fishing in his free time.
Jayden France
Being Mr. JFK is a huge accomplishment for Jayden, and he is very grateful to everyone who voted for him. Jayden is excited to show off his talent to everyone in the crowd so he can show people what he can do.
His favorite memories came from the sports teams offered at JFK, “You meet so many great people, some great friends and you can just spend time with them,” Jayden stated.
In Jayden’s free time, you will most likely see him watching his favorite show, “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
After high school, Jayden wants to go to college to make a good living and become successful after he is done with school.
Nick Hein
Nick believes that being Mr. JFK means a lot, “Being Mr. JFK means being the bigger person and being respectful to those who don’t really respect you,” Nick stated. Nick is excited for his talent portion of Mr. JFK where he is looking forward to showing how talented he truly is.
Nick’s favorite part about JFK was meeting new people while also learning about new cultures.
After graduating from JFK, Nick wants to get a degree in math education in hopes of returning to JFK as a math teacher. He wants to find a new way to teach math to prevent people from disliking the subject.
A fun fact about Nick is that he is 25% Chinese.
Isaiah Joyner
To Isaiah, being Mr. JFK means that you are involved in the school while being someone that underclassmen look up to while still representing what it means to be a Mustang.
“I’ve been doing sound for [Mr. JFK] the past two years and I’m excited to be a part of the event this year,” Isaiah states. He is especially excited about the fashion segment.
Isaiah plans on having a career in art and graphic design after high school. Throughout his four years at JFK, his favorite memories were making the varsity cheer team and being able to meet so many new people which has lead to many amazing friendships.
Aarush Kanduri
Being Mr. JFK for Aarush means representing the three A’s; academics, arts and athletics in the best way possible. His goal for Mr. JFK is to put on a good show for the crowd.
Aarush is currently choosing between Rutgers and Villanova to study chemical engineering after graduating.
Aarush’s favorite memories of the last four years are, “Being able to represent the school in various academic competitions and school sports over the years,” Aarush stated.
Aarush also loves to play tennis and chess in his free time.
Zain Khalil
“[Being Mr. JFK] Is an honor because it’s a mutual respect that is reciprocated between my peers and my teachers,” Zain states.
Zain didn’t attend JFKMHS as a freshman, but when he got here sophomore year, he created wonderful memories. He is glad to have established his friend group and formed amazing friendships with other students at JFK.
He is eager to show JFK his talent through the talent portion of the show because it showcases his creative freedom. A fun fact about Zain is that he loves basketball and his favorite player is Kyrie Irving.
After graduation in June, Zain plans on going to Rutgers to study finance.
Raman Pandit
Being Mr. JFK for Raman means representing the core values JFKMHS has to offer to their full potential.
He is most excited about the talent show portion because he already has a surprise planned.
Raman’s favorite part about JFK was being on the volleyball team with all his friends. He would like to give a special shoutout to Petar and Manan.
He is going to college to major in finance and economics, but is still unsure of what school he wants to attend.
A cool fact about Raman is that he was born in the mountains.
Manny Perez-Quijano
Manny feels honored to have been selected by his teachers and the senior class to represent the school as Mr. JFK. He can’t wait to be on stage representing the senior class and putting on a show for everyone in the crowd.
After Manny graduates high school, he plans on going to college to play football while earning a degree in business.
Many explains that, “The teachers and the environment,” were his favorite times at JFK.
An interesting fact about Manny is that he has had three knee surgeries as a high school senior.
Milton Reyes
Milton can’t wait to watch everyone’s talents during the Mr. JFK performance, especially his friends who are also competing.
“To see everybody’s talent…I think it’s going to be really fun,” Milton states. “Some of my friends are also competing, so I’d like to be there with them and get to experience it with them.”
His favorite part about JFK are the arts, including choir, the band, music, dances and theatre.
A fun fact about Milton is that he loves singing and being a part of the All-State Choir and the school Choir.
Milton’s plans after high school include going to Rutgers University for Criminal Justice, and after he plans to go to law school to be a defense attorney.
Bhavik Shah
Bhavik is most excited about the talents he has to display and is anticipating the crowd to be entertained during the Mr. JFK competition.
“Displaying all my multitudes of talents for all you folks out there, and you guys are just going to be screaming at my performances because it is just going to be great,” Bhavik states.
Bhavik is a well-rounded student in and out of school. His favorite experiences include Homecoming and Garba. He also had some favorite teachers: Mr. Viteri and Mr. Seavy.
Bhavik loves Formula 1 and his favorite driver is Lewis Hamilton.
Bhavik plans on studying engineering after he graduates.
