Summary
The new Captain America movie has received criticism by marvel fans; however, it is actually a very solid movie. In the newest installment, we get to finally see Anthony Mackie in a feature film as Captain America.
Another character we got to finally see in live action is Red Hulk. Red Hulk had good action scenes, an entertaining story, and visually held your attention.
Red Hulk was played by Harrison Ford and was the highlight of this movie.
This is a marvel movie requires you to watch “The Incredible Hulk” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” to have a much better understanding of the plot.
“Captain America: Brave New World,” starring Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America, is a movie about Sam Wilson/Captain America investigating the president Thaddeus Ross played by Harrison Ford.
In the opening scene, it shows Ross being elected as president. We also see Ross taking pills which we later find out is the reason why he turns into Red Hulk. William Hurt originally played Ross but sadly passed away in March 2022.
Samuel Sterns, a returning character from the “The Incredible Hulk” movie, gives him the pills. Sterns is a cellular biologist who tries to find a cure for the Hulk. Later in that movie, he gains advanced intelligence after the Hulk’s blood mutated his brain. After that, he is imprisoned at Camp Echo One, a military prison. Ross goes back to Sterns so that he can assist Ross with his heart problems and help Ross live longer.
However, Ross broke a promise that would free Sterns after he helped Ross’ heart problems. After Sterns finds out, he wants revenge. Sterns intentionally had him take the pills to build gamma radiation in his body to cause mutation but it doesn’t end up working. Sterns is able to control people’s minds with technology to ruin Ross’ career.
While Ross is publicly speaking in front of the White House, Sterns makes Ross lose control of his emotions and he turns into the Red Hulk .
Captain America shows up to stop The Red Hulk and he is able to calm him down. Ross turns back to his normal self, but is no longer president because he destroyed The White House and is in jail. Meanwhile, Sterns is monitored and put in a more secure prison so that he can no longer use his powers.
Review
Overall, this movie did a good job with Red Hulk. I think Harrison Ford really brought depth into his character and I would love to see him continue the role again in the future.
“Captain America: Brave New World” is a fun and entertaining movie to watch. However, in my opinion, it is the worst in the franchise. Some fans think it focuses too much on Red Hulk, but I disagree. The movie still feels like a traditional Captain America movie, with a little less emphasis on the main character.
What is obvious is that this movie shows that Mackie is worthy of being Captain America.
Overall I give this movie a 7.5/10
