This Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, Sabrina Carpenter released a deluxe album that included three new songs: “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” and “Bad Reviews.”
Also included is a new version of her hit song “Please Please Please” with famous country star Dolly Parton. “Busy Woman” was also added, a song she previously released for purchase. There’s now a total of five new songs added to the deluxe album.
Carpenter is a two time Grammy winner for her original album of “Short n’ Sweet” which was her sixth studio album, released back in August of 2024. Carpenter just recently won “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Pop Solo Performance” for her hit song “Espresso.”
Six days after dropping her hit album “Short n’ Sweet,” Carpenter revealed a bonus track called “Busy Woman,” which was exclusively available through her website for a limited time to purchase on Aug. 29. Although access to this song was brief, fans discreetly shared it across streaming platforms and social media. Fans heard the song before it eventually sold out on the same day.
Analysis
The first track added to the album, “15 Minutes,” discusses the recent rush of fame she’s encountered ever since dropping her hit album “Short n’ Sweet”. The title of the song refers to the phrase, “15 minutes of Fame” and how she isn’t afraid of the limited time she has.
Even though the song is upbeat and exciting, Carpenter discusses the deeper meaning of time, fame and how quickly moments pass in the spotlight. She explains how she will maximize her time to the best of her advantage. In her song she sings, “I can do a lot with 15 minutes…Take a couple bucks, turn’em into millions.”
“Please Please Please,” which was a single from the original “Short n’ Sweet,” got redone with a new music video featuring Parton.
In the first music video, Barry Keoghan, who Carpenter was dating at the time, played a main role. Since the remake of the song, Parton took his spot and the two women are trying to escape police authorities with a mysterious body in the back of their car. Fans believe this body can symbolize Keoghan because of the same outfit in the first video and the history between the two.
“Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” is one of the few slower songs added to the deluxe addition. This song has a similar vibe and country flare to “Slim Pickins,” and “Sharpest Tool.” It describes the emotional detachment and vulnerability Carpenter feels from past relationships and friendships. She sings, “And for the graveyard in my stomach… Meanwhile, you’re just tryin’ to tell me I look nice.” The catchy tune and well-thought-out lyrics make this track memorable.
Carpenter closes the deluxe albums with “Bad Reviews.” This song shows a slower and softer side of the singer. It talks about receiving bad reviews from the media and past friendships. Carpenter explains in the song that she doesn’t regret anything she’s done.
Conclusion
“Short n’ Sweet,” is the artist’s most popular album, and for good reason. This album has incorporated pop and country genres in each song which fans all over social media love. Overall, Carpenter did a great job making new deluxe songs that complement the original album.
