When thinking of spring break, you feel the excitement and good vibes of the approaching good weather. We compiled a versatile list of songs that give you the same warm feeling as the spring sun to enjoy throughout any spring break or prom season activities!

“The Spins” – Mac Miller, Empire Of The Sun (K.I.D.S.)
Starting with classic throwbacks of our generation, “The Spins” by Mac Miller, released in August of 2010, carries a very upbeat tone. As artist Mac Miller had just graduated when producing the song, he carried his excitement and hopes for the future into it. This track is perfect for anyone, but especially seniors who can resonate with all of the feels surrounding an approaching graduation day.
“LUV” – Tory Lanez (I Told You)
After fast-forwarding a few years, we reach August of 2016, when “LUV” by Tory Lanez was released. In comparison to “The Spins,” this song is more mellow, staying consistently on a chill beat. However, the relaxing and refreshing vibes of school being out are intertwined into the beat and lyrics of “LUV.”
“Slide” – Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean, Migos, Funk Wav (Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1)
In June of 2017, “Slide” by Calvin Harris was released and was immediately a hit. The song starts slightly upbeat, then the beat picks up, and so do the vibes, similar to how Spring Break is a “preview” to summer. Because it is a song that our generation grew up hearing on the radio, it gives us a sense of nostalgia and reminds us of the new beginnings that are quickly approaching.
“No Fear” – DeJ Loaf
“No Fear” by DeJ Loaf, was made as a single in June of 2017. It encapsulates the craziness felt by all students during the last semester of the school year. This song switches from a calm beat to a fast-paced beat in the chorus and continues to switch throughout the song, allowing listeners to appreciate both the calm and exciting moments in both the song.
“Unforgettable” – French Montana, Swae Lee (Jungle Rules)
Released in July of 2017, “Unforgettable” by French Montana and Swae Lee quickly captured the attention of listeners of all ages. As the beat is more prominent in comparison to the other songs on our list, it evokes a more mature feeling from its audience. The music and lyrics combined just make you want to sing along and dance with those around you.
“Leave ‘Em Alone” – Quality Control, Layton Greene, Lil Baby, City Girls, PnB Rock
“Leave ‘Em Alone” by Quality Control, Layton Greene, Lil Baby, City Girls, and PnB Rock (made in May of 2019) is a great example of how a variety of artists from different music genres can work together to create the best pieces of work. This track is irresistible to bop your head along to.
“Loyal” (Remix) – PARTYNEXTDOOR, Drake, Bad Bunny (PARTYMOBILE)
Carrying an incredible mellow beat throughout, “Loyal” (Remix) by PARTYNEXTDOOR, Drake, and Bad Bunny (March 2020) makes listeners feel content and laid-back, which truly depicts the freedom felt from being off from school. It is a bilingual song, sung in both English and Spanish, which many students can relate to.
“Luther” – Kendrick Lamar, SZA (GNX)
“Luther” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA is a more recent and popular song. It has gained a large audience, many of whom appreciate the relaxed lyrics and music. Both artists sing in the same, tranquil tone, which highlights the simplicity of being off of school and having time to yourself.
“NUEVAYoL” – Bad Bunny (DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS)
“NUEVAYoL” by Bad Bunny, was released at the start of this year, has multiple genre and beat switches throughout, which is similar to how Bad Bunny structures most of his music. The song begins with a musical salsa intro, and transitions to a rap/club music fusion, as well as having lower-beats throughout the song to build suspense for the audience to hype them up more during the chorus.
“NOKIA” – Drake ($ome $exy $ongs 4 U)
We close out the playlist with the most recently released song on our list. “NOKIA” by Drake, was first viewed as an “odd” song by some Drake fans; however, has grown to be an album favorite by many. The funky, upbeat and melodic track makes listeners want to have fun, as it frequently repeats the idea of looking for and enjoying a “function,” or party. in the comments!
