As you walk in, you are greeted by bright LED lights displaying Korean texts and a large television playing various K-pop artists. The waiters greet you, and lead you to a table with a grill installed in it. Customers order their meals interactively with an iPad.
Woodbridge’s KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot restaurant has been gaining traction, offering a $20.99 lunch special and a $34.99 dinner special. The restaurant offers a buffet and option of hot pot or Korean BBQ with unlimited food. Customers may also choose both options for an additional $5 per person.
Simmering with success or a boiling disappointment?
The first food we tried was the BBQ beef bulgogi. The meat had a hint of soy sauce that was very subtle, but it enhanced the taste of the meat. We rated the beef bulgogi an 8/10, which set the standard for the upcoming food.
The potato which comes by itself, was very bland. Customers are to cook the potatoes with their meal; however, the problem is that it took a long time to cook. We rated this a 5/10.
The Prime Brisket BBQ wasn’t memorable; it had a very basic taste and lacked flavor. We rated it a 5/10.
The chicken garlic was lackluster compared to the rest of the food, with a rating of 4/10. There was an absence of flavor with little to no seasoning.
The sliced beef belly was a enjoyable and was our second favorite except for the BBQ beef bulgogi. The taste was decent, but could use more seasoning.
The final take
Overall, we would not recommend the lunch special. The food was lackluster. KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot restaurant feels more like a gimmicky experience that you would go to once. It won’t be a restaurant that we will be running back to. So we say, K-NOT.
