Christian Williams is currently a senior at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School. Christian has been a part of the swim team for the past four years, and won an award for sportsmanship. Christian plans on becoming a lawyer and majoring in political science.
I spoke with Christian about his high school experience and got some insight into how the past four years have treated him.
What/who has been your motivation for the past 4 years of high school?
Christian: My motivation during high school has always been getting into college and having a good career.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself graduating from a four year college [and] hopefully graduating from grad school on top of that, and looking for a job or working a job.
If you had to give one piece of advice to underclassmen, what would it be?
Be active in school events. Just try your best to be social and don’t just waste your high school years.
What influenced you to join your sports team? Was it already a previous hobby or a fun extracurricular you wanted to try?
It was kind of a mixture of both. I mean, I used to swim, years and years ago. I never swam on a team, then but I was looking for a sport to do [in school]. So, I narrowed it down to two or three sports I wanted to do and I just decided to pick swimming because that’s what I do best and that’s what I’ve done for the past four years.
If you could redo anything from your high school experience what would it be?
Maybe switch up some of the classes I took. Or to go to more high school events because, to be honest, I never went to school events until last year and this year.
How do you think you’ve changed since starting high school?
I’ve definitely become more social since the beginning of high school to now. It was kind of like I didn’t know what was going on [or] where I was, but now I’ve definitely grown to make more relationships with people and be more friendly, I guess.
