What is your favorite class that you took over your high school journey? And why?
James: I would say, probably my 3-D art class that I have right now in my first block. It’s just a lot of opportunities for the future and it’s just a lot of new ways and perspective on art.
What do you wish to do after graduating from high school?
Architecture. It’s a way for me to use art, for me to also relate it to doing something 3-D and it also pays really well.
How has high school changed your outlook on life?
It made me stop overthinking things because like in freshman year, everything is so “in your face,” now I’m a senior, it’s like nothing is a big deal anymore.
What is one motivational quote or thought that you remind yourself to inspire you every time you feel upset?
Honestly? That one quote from Robinson’s, “keep moving forward” it’s simple but effective.
What is one lesson you have learned in high school that you will cherish?
Don’t overcomplicate things. If you overcomplicate things, everything gets so much harder. If you dumb it down in like simple steps, it gets so much easier, if you just simplify everything, and then put it in a way where it’s just easier.
Do you have any favorite teachers or persons who you look up to as a mentor? How has he/she helped you throughout your high school years?
The art teachers, they’re just very polite and not in your face with everything, they’re very neat with deadlines.
They’ve definitely helped with my skills in art, I used to not be that good in like, sketches in general, but now you saw the sword that I made.
What is one club that you would most recommend for JFK students?
A good club that anyone can join is the gaming unplugged because it’s just so open, and it’s a good club to have as a backup.
Who is the one person who has helped you the most throughout your high school career?
Manan [Machhi]. He’s just there when I need him and he’s just been a way for me to just outlet on everything and he’s just chill.
What is one piece of advice that you would give underclassmen, especially freshman, to help them through their high school years?
Don’t overthink.
