What would you say to underclassmen entering their senior year?
Krish: Don’t be nervous. Junior year is when you’ve already knocked out a lot of the college stuff. Just stay locked in during your senior year, keep up with your work, and don’t get senioritis.
If you could go back in time and tell your freshman self one thing, what would it be and why?
I’d probably tell my freshman self to be more extroverted. I wish I had talked to more people early on. I would’ve made a lot more friends that way.
What are your plans after high school?
I’m going to Rutgers University and planning to major in pre-med.
What do you wish you had done differently in high school?
If I could do one thing differently, I would’ve joined more extracurriculars. I didn’t really get involved in much.
Is there anything you regret not doing?
Yeah, again, probably getting more involved in things and maybe taking some AP classes just for the experience.
If you could relive one of your high school years, which one would it be and why?
I’d definitely relive junior year. That year was a lot of fun. We had Mr. Kaul’s class together, and all my classes had friends in them. Lunch also had a lot of friends. Just a really solid year overall.
How have your parents impacted the way you live your life?
My parents always pushed me to stay on top of my work. They didn’t want me slacking off. They made sure I understood the importance of responsibility–getting stuff done, staying focused, and not falling behind.
What was the hardest part of high school, and how did you push through it?
Sophomore year, for sure. I wasn’t really locked in, and I ended up with a few Cs. It felt off because I usually had good grades. But in the second semester, I saw those grades and realized I needed to lock in, and that really motivated me.
How did COVID affect your high school experience?
It was weird. Freshman year, we had to wear masks and follow social distancing. It was kind of annoying having to wear a mask, and we still had to social distance. It also felt weird having to return to in-person school after a year of online learning.
What will you miss most about high school?
Definitely being around my friends all the time. In high school, you can talk to them in class, at lunch, basically whenever. After graduation, it’s harder—you have to plan and reach out. That is what I will miss the most.
