Popstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 2025.
Photos were posted on the couple’s Instagram accounts that included them embracing each other, surrounded by colorful flowers.
The caption wrote: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married .”
Swift’s diamond ring is said to have been designed by Kelce and Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York City. Kelce didn’t confirm the price he paid for the ring, but jeweler Avi Bulow stated that it appears to be an eight-carat diamond that is estimated to be worth $1 million to $1.2 million.
The engagement post breaks Instagram records, creating above 30 million likes in less than 24 hours.
The post is accompanied by Swift’s hit song, “So High School,” from her latest album titled “The Tortured Poets Department,” which is speculated to be about Kelce.
Travis Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, told News 5 Cleveland WEWS that his son actually proposed to Swift about three weeks ago at home in Missouri.
The engagement photoshoot for the Instagram post was said to have been taken in Kelce’s estate at Leawood in Johnson County, Kansas, according to the Johnson County Post.
The engagement announcement came just weeks after Swift made her first appearance on “New Heights,” a podcast in which Kelce co-hosts with his brother, retired NFL star Jason Kelce.
Swift announced her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” during the podcast episode and spoke about her relationship with Kelce. She described her now fiancé as a “vibe booster” who is “truly getting to know” her. She highlighted the way that he is a “green flag” and the way he makes her laugh.
Even though the couple shared the news of their engagement with the world, it will not be a public display. An anonymous source tells PEOPLE that they “want to keep it more private.”
“It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” the source says. “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy.
