On Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, JFKMHS held their first pep rally of the school year after 18 months of online school. The science trio-Mrs. Sienkiewicz, Mrs. McCaig and Mrs. Pardo hosted an enthusiastic afternoon.

To celebrate the start of the fall sports season, all varsity and senior athletes were recognized. The band played the school’s hype-song “The Horse”, while the cheerleaders encouraged the crowd to chant and show their school spirit.

Senior Isaiah Cherry explained, “It was cool cause I’m new to the school.  It [pep rally] was a different experience from my last school.  The energy was high.”

Justin Suero also helped pep-up the students by getting the crowd to chant along with him.  “Honestly it felt great, to like, lead the whole school in a chant. I felt like I was the guy for that minute or two and it felt awesome.” Like Suero, many students felt that the fall  pep rally was awesome and worth attending. It was the first time many students were able to witness the unification of the student body.

Not to be forgotten, were the pesky lanternflies that landed on backpacks, shoulders and heads. However,  Mr. Viteri was there to stomp them out.
