New Jersey is expected to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final in June 2026 at MetLife Stadium.

The Garden State will host eight matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be hosted by 16 cities in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

New Jersey hosted a World Cup game at Giants Stadium back in 1994, when Brazil was crowned the champion. The upcoming tournament is the largest ever to take place.

Jahnya Bocanegra, Contributor
Jahnya Bocanegra is a senior at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, graduating in 2024. She is extremely excited to dive into the world of journalism as this is her first time serving as a contributor to The Torch. Jahnya has always been interested in journalism because it serves as the bridge between the public and the current happenings around the world. In addition to this, Jahnya also finds herself extremely interested in fashion and music from around the world. She’s a huge music and movie lover, as she always finds something new and unique to fixate on. She hopes to graduate with a little more knowledge of journalism and can’t wait to share her newfound passion with the world.
Nishi Dalia is currently a junior at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School where she is a contributor for The Torch. This is her first year being a part of journalism and she hopes to grow as an effective journalist in the world of news and storytelling. Nishi is an active member of JFK’s Student Council, Dance Exchange, Kennedy Cancer Society, and Women’s Empowerment Club. Outside of school, she enjoys listening to music, learning new recipes, watching movies, reading and catching up with friends and family. She hopes to travel more in the future and explore different parts of the world. She is excited to see what journalism has to offer for her and what she will contribute to The Torch!
Ushna Imtiaz is a sophomore at JFKMHS where she is a first-year contributor for The Torch. She has always found writing, expressing her opinions and hearing "the other side’" of the story interesting. That's the main reason I chose journalism. Ushna is a member of the Key Club, MSA & Film Club. Her hobbies are traveling to different countries, listening to poems, writing short stories and going on walks.  She also enjoys playing badminton with her friends and often will pay a visit to the library.
Emmanuel Colas is currently a junior attending John F. Kennedy Memorial High School. This is his very first time as a contributor to his respective school’s newspaper, The Torch. With his writing skills and his endeavors toward the school, he hopes to take a step further and become involved with the people around him. While there isn’t much that he does in the school, minus his Ping Pong Club career, his hobbies outside of school consist of multiple things such as fishkeeping, video-games, anime, or doing work and cleaning in general for the home that he shares with his mother, aunt, and grandma.
